Chula Vista Employee Housing
Project Scope: New employee housing
Location: Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
Designer: General Engineering Company
Chula Vista Resort continues to grow and as a result, it needs to provide employee housing for the many young people who travel to Wisconsin from around the world to work there. This project involved Friede & Associates constructing three 32-unit employee apartment buildings. To meet the aggressive fall to spring construction schedule, these units utilized panelized wood-framed construction. This construction method also enabled Friede to deliver the project on time and meet Chula Vista's budget.
The Friede team worked very closely with its design partner, General Engineering Company, to develop a new style of unit that offers Chula Vista much more flexibility in both where the new units could be located and the number and timing of employee units that are brought online to meet Chula’s needs.
At the same time the employee housing units were being built, the Friede team was also building a new 12,000 square foot laundry facility, just 50 yards away. The combination of the two projects allowed all the major subcontractors to maintain crews on-site through virtually the entire construction period.
This project was recognized by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin as a 2018 Silver Project of Distinction.
