Chula Vista Zip Line & Vertical Accelerator
Project Scope: Zip Line & Vertical Accelerator rides
Location: Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
Designer: General Engineering Company
Chula Vista Resort has a set of new adrenaline-filled rides to enjoy, which lays the groundwork for the potential development of a future dry play attraction area at the resort. These projects included the new 2,000-foot-long zip line dubbed the Screamin’ Eagles Flight Line and the 100’ tall Ultimate Rush Vertical Accelerator.
For the Screamin’ Eagles Flight Line, Friede crews installed all the concrete, erected the two steel towers and supports, and built the wooden steps and platforms for the two steel towers. Chula Vista engaged a local Amish contractor to construct the third wooden tower. Meanwhile, the site work for the Ultimate Rush Vertical Accelerator began with Friede handling the foundation work, including setting the first section of both towers. The ride operator then completed the tower installation and safety testing shortly thereafter.
The Friede team also designed and built a new ticket booth for use by both attractions and renovated an adjacent booth just prior to the zip line. This building also serves as the base of operations for the training area that zip line riders must first attend to obtain their harnesses and safety equipment. This exciting project took just four months to complete.
This project was recognized by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin as a 2020 Silver Project of Distinction.
