Horn Plastics, Inc.
Project Scope: Manufacturing expansion
Location: Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
In 2019, when Tim Horn took over Horn Plastics from his father, one of his initial priorities was the modernization and expansion of the company’s thirty-year-old facility. Following the challenges of the first year of the COVID pandemic, Horn approached Friede & Associates in 2021 to collaborate on the creation of a new facility that would cater to the evolving needs of his expanding company and offer an enhanced working environment for his employees.
The 9,600-square-foot pre-engineered metal building expansion included a new front façade, multiple overhead doors, and a completely new office. The project also called for the creation of a 500-square-foot dock enclosure that is at grade on one side while having a dock pit on the other. This allows the Horn Plastics team to install their trademarked Super-Slide plastic liners directly into waiting trucks and trailers and provides greater flexibility to their shipping and receiving operations. The project also upgraded the employee breakroom and bathrooms, providing a more professional image for potential clients visiting the Wisconsin Dells plant.
This project was recognized by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin as a 2023 Silver Project of Distinction and with the Built on Merit award.
