Lodi Veterinary Clinic
Project Scope: Remodel and expansion
Location: Lodi, Wisconsin
Designer: Ramaker Architecture + Engineering
This year-long project would involve adding over 14,000 square feet to the existing building to create a new facility of more than 28,000 square feet and a complete renovation of the existing structure. The new structure includes both wood and masonry walls and also includes a precast mechanical storage area. The project also included major additions and reworking of the entire mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Groundbreaking was in early November of 2016 and Friede immediately began work on the two major building additions and on the extensive site work that would be necessary to allow for work to continue through the winter months.
Footings and foundation were installed in December and January and the decision was made to get the walls and roof on first, with floor slabs and underslab utilities installed at the end of winter to reduce the costs of winter construction and to expedite the project schedule.
The new large animal area features ceilings that are five feet taller than the existing structure and includes masonry cubicles for the animals and a more durable interior finish to allow for complete hose down of all animal areas. One of the last elements of the project to be completed was the equine area where new masonry walls replaced outdated wood structures and allow easy cleanup.
This project was recognized by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin as a 2017 Silver Project of Distinction.
