North Central Aviation

Project Scope: New aircraft hangar
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Designer: Gary Brink & Associates Architecture and Design

The Dane County Regional Airport boasts an exciting and diverse past including a design that replicates the prairie style architecture synonymous with Wisconsin’s prodigious Frank Lloyd Wright. Originally activated as a military installation for WWII and the Korean War, the airport was renamed Truax Field in 1942 to commemorate local aviator, Lt. Thomas L. “Bud” Truax.

Fittingly, Friede & Associates contributed their own stroke of brilliance to Truax Field in the form of a 7,200-square-foot pre-engineered metal aircraft hangar for North Central Aviation, which offers charter services, maintenance, and management of privately-owned aircraft.
