RG Heating & Air Conditioning
Project Scope: New office building
Location: Waunakee, Wisconsin
Designer: Mente Engineering
RG Heating & Air Conditioning faced some challenges in overcoming their physical office space. Burdened with two small buildings in the heart of a residential neighborhood, they quickly realized they would need to relocate to grow their business efficiently. Their new facility, located in the Waunakee Industrial Park, is a 17,750-square-foot Metallic pre-engineered metal building. The building features a unique and attractive alternating two-color pattern of textured insulated metal panel siding. A polished concrete floor was installed throughout the office area, which also includes an exposed steel structure in the building lobby.
The project faced extensive stretches of poor, rainy weather, which resulted in the need for extensive site remediation. Soils that would have been suitable for fill under the future asphalt were suddenly too wet and unstable for use. As a result, tens of thousands of dollars of soil replacement was necessary late in the project. Due to the soil and weather issues, the final asphalt paving was rescheduled for the following spring. To allow RG Heating to open and operate over the winter, recycled asphalt was installed along much of the west side of the building.
This project was recognized by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin as a 2020 Silver Project of Distinction and by Metallic Building Company with the 2019 Design-Build Merit Award.
