Richland Center Airport Terminal
Project Scope: New airport terminal
Location: Richland Center, Wisconsin
The new Richland Center Airport Terminal project replaced an old and very outdated block and metal building that had served the community for years. The new, 3,620-square-foot building features design elements frequently used by Frank Lloyd Wright, including exterior accents, soffits, windows, and doors. The building includes a meeting room, office, lounge, and kitchenette. The comfortable interior features both carpeted and wood flooring, residential-style windows and trim, a fireplace, and a wood lighting feature in the conference room.
The building’s wall panels were constructed off-site to not only jumpstart the schedule but also due to the limited space available on the job site and its proximity to the airport runway. Despite the daily challenges of working just feet from a busy runway in southern Wisconsin, dealing with the full effects of the global pandemic, and a very aggressive four-month project schedule, the Friede & Associates team completed yet another distinctive and exciting project on time and on budget.
This project was recognized by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin as a 2021 Gold Project of Distinction.
