Wilderness Resort Indoor Go-Kart Track

The Wilderness Resort Indoor Go-Kart Track | 2014 ABC of Wisconsin Gold Project of Distinction Award | Friede & Associates

Project Scope: New indoor go-kart track
Location: Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
Designer: Architectural Design Consultants, Inc.

Wilderness Resort’s new 12,500-square-foot, two-story indoor go-kart track features a 525-foot long course located next door to the Glitter Gulch Arcade in the New Frontier region of the hotel.

This project posed quite a few challenges for the Friede team. The new attraction literally shoehorns between three other buildings, each with different rooflines. During the design and early construction phases, it became apparent that the as-built measurements didn’t correspond with drawings of record. An added complication was the ever-present guest and service traffic that use the entrance just to the right of the construction area. Friede had to engineer a solution to prevent impeding the comings and goings of the facility.

The project was a complete success and continues to provide thrills and excitement, as families and friends drive around crazy turns and corkscrews in one of the 20 electric cars.

This project was recognized by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin as a 2014 Gold Project of Distinction.
